Craig and his wife, will be flying to Austin, Texas the weekend of June 4, 2010 to visit their sons.

CHRIS BREIGHNER

RYAN BREIGHNER
Middle (Ryan, 26) is a research fellow and about one year from completing his doctoral work in biomechanics at Texas Tech.  He’s rapidly becoming one of the better-informed sources of info on non-impact ACL injuries, which will be the topic of his dissertation [basically an expansion of the experimental work he documented in his master’s thesis].
MIKE BREIGHNER
Youngest (Mike, 21) is just finishing his junior year at the University of Texas, in Austin.  He did his first two years of undergrad work at Texas Tech, as well, but is very pleased with the additional contacts and opportunities to which he’s been exposed at UT.

Our sons: ( left to right): Michael ("Mike" or "Mikey"), Ryan, and Christian ("Chris') Breighner Breighner Sons - 12.26.2008

L-R: Michael ("Mike" or "Mikey"), Ryan, and Christian ("Chris') Breighner

All three graduated from Westwood High School, Austin, TX, and have attended Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX.

After two years at Texas Tech, Chris transferred to Texas State, San Marcos, where he graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in finance. Chris currently works as a consulting accountant at Sears Holdings, Dallas, TX. During his junior and senior years at Texas State, in lieu of a formal internship, Chris day-traded and performed investment research for Present Time Systems, Inc., his parents' former software consulting company. His career and life goals include acquiring more extensive portfolio management experience, as well as preparing for and retiring early. Chris is 26 and a rabid Steelers fan. He enjoys politics, weightlifting, and can play the violin, which he started studying at the age of 3, having first learned to read at 1 1/2. In high school, Chris played right field for the Westwood Warriors baseball team and ran the 2-mile event in track. Clocked as one of the team's swiftest base-runners, Chris batted over .600 on his freshman squad and completed his first season with a remarkable 1.000 on-base percentage. As a swimmer, he is a former member of the City of Austin winning medley relay team, 13- and 14-year-old division).

Ryan graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech in 2006 with a B.S.E. (mechanical engineering major, math minor). He is currently pursuing a masters degree at Texas Tech in biomechanical engineering, which he will complete this spring or summer. He is currently working as a teaching assistant and research fellow in the engineering department, where he and a former classmate lecture and run the undergraduate "materials" labs. Ryan enjoys teaching and would like to become a university professor. Ryan was first recognized as a mathematically 'gifted' after orally reciting a complete "Diophantine" analysis at the age of 5, while a store clerk was trying to make change at a cash register. Ryan is 25. He also enjoys cycling, swimming, and playing the cello and guitar. He is a former City of Austin swimming champion in the 50-yard butterfly (11- and 12-year-old division) and 200 meter freestyle (13- and 14-year-old division).

Mike is a sophomore at Texas Tech, where he is an advertising major in the school of mass communications. Having spent most of his life in Austin, "the Live Music Capitol," Mike is a former guitarist and lead singer with the alternative rock group Skeptic Republic, with whom he wrote and recorded two albums, "Human Nature" and "Release the Sounds." He has since recorded one solo album, "Mike on the Rocks," which is available for downloading from iTunes. Mike is 20. He enjoys art, cycling, swimming, running, woodworking, and playing guitar, keyboards, mandolin, and violin. Mike is a former City of Austin swimming champion in the 100-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke, and 100-meter butterfly, having won all three events at the age of 15 (15- to 17-year old division).

UPDATE 8/31/09 from Craig

Mike, 20, has transferred from Texas Tech to UT-Austin (University of Texas-Austin) to complete his final two years of undergraduate study. He is still majoring in mass communications (advertising).

Ryan, 26, received his MSME (Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering) degree on 8 August, and has returned to Texas Tech to complete a series of biomechanics experiments and pursue his PhD. We were in Lubbock, Texas for the weekend of the graduation ceremonies, after which Ryan came to visit us for slightly more than a week of R&R in Florida, before returning for fall classes. (We enjoyed some great Cuban food and Flamenco dancing in Ybor City, as well as some fairly decent off-season shell collecting on Sanibel Island, near Fort Myers.)
